Frequently Asked Questions
Why hire a professional pet sitter?
-Hiring a professional pet sitter that is an educated, dedicated, and responsible caregiver is the best way to ensure your pets are happy and well and your home is safe and secure. Some benefits of hiring a professional sitter include:
-pets are happier and experience less stress when at home.
-diet and exercise routines are followed to prevent any changes in day to day life.
-untrained or unwilling family or friends need not be called.
-insurance and continued education into proper pet care provide extra peace of mind.
-regular updates let you know exactly how your pet and home are doing, even when you're away.
Who will be taking care of my pets?
After almost 7 years as a duo (Zack and Alisha), we were fortunate enough to expand to where it came time to entrust a small team of official staff members to be part of our care providing team. Currently, we employ four part time pet care specialists who work directly under the oversight of Alisha and Zack. All staff members are formally trained by Alisha and Zack personally, and are also insured, bonded, first-aid certified, and background checked.
Do you require a certain number of visits per day? Will you provide every-other-day care for my pets?
To ensure the best care and safety for your pets, we do require a minimum of two (2) visits per day for all households with dogs that have outside access (ie, a doggy door to a secure, fenced in yard). For dogs that do not have outside access during the day, a minimum of three (3) visits a day are required to prevent any messes, accidents, and allow time for those dogs to stretch and exercise adequately. Households without dogs, including those with cats, exotic animals, small mammals, etc., a minimum of one (1) 20 minute visit per day is required. Even if your kitty isn't very social or your small animals have minimal care, having a sitter visit daily allows us to make sure no emergencies arise and allows us to switch lights, check for packages, and provide the security of giving your home a "lived in" look.
What is your service area?
We are based in Paint Brush Hills and serve Peyton, Falcon, and some of the greater Colorado Springs area. Even if you aren't in our regular service area, don't hesitate to contact us, as we may be able to accommodate.
What insurance and certifications do you have?
We have taken the extra effort, time, and commitment to continuing our education and expanding our credentials so we may provide the best care possible for your critters. We are fully insured through Business Insurers of the Carolinas, bonded, CPR certified, Fear Free Professional certified, members of the Pet Professionals Guild, and Certified Professional Pet Sitters through Pet Sitters International!
Will you check in on my pets during the day when my friend is staying with them overnight?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept any sittings that would involve job sharing of any kind whether it be with a friend, relative, neighbor, or even another sitter coming to care for your pets. Job sharing poses several liability and care concerns and renders our insurance null and void in the case of an emergency.
Will you take my dogs to the dog park or take them on walks with other dogs?
Due to liabilities and for the safety of all pets in our care, we only walk one household at a time and do not take any clients to dog parks. Dog parks can be exciting for some dogs, but stressful for others and can be host to a wide variety of potential disease. For pups interested in socializing, we recommend our daytime or overnight Playcation options for safe, supervised fun!
Will you let my cat outside?
Unless you have an outdoor area that is fully enclosed such as a screened in patio or Catio, we do not allow any cats outside during our care. Even indoor/outdoor cats may act differently when their owners are away, and with the abundance of Colorado wildlife, we do everything we can to ensure that you come home to happy, safe, and secure pets.
How much notice of a service need do you require?
No amount of notice is too much! We often book up very quickly for those busier times of the year like summer vacation from school and winter holidays, so reach out as soon as you have any dates in mind. We do understand that life can be unpredictable and are always happy to work to accommodate last minute requests as well.
